There was an
aching desire in me to wear a suit from my childhood days. Finally the day had
come during my 8th semester of engineering. It was the photo session
day.Four years had gone in a blink of an eye. The journey of engineering will come
to an end after a few weeks.
I was lucky to find a antiquated black suit and
a chequered light blue colored tie which was lying in the corner of my room
from the past 6 years. It smelled bad as it was covered by dust.
In the suit, I looked like a Hindi
professor of a esteemed college. I tried to imitate sharukh khans walking style
but in vain. I sucked. The feeling of wearing a suit was great but it was
getting hotter within.
Boys came in
suit and the girls in sari. Boys looked severely simple and were exuding a
intoxicating perfume of manliness.More importantly they were successful in
life. Most of them wore a rented suit. There were future CEO s,future managers,
future IPL bidders, future politicians, future scientists, future
superstars,future artists,future hackers.
Girls were looking
scintillating,profused, odoriferous
with auriferous ornaments. There is such a sparkling splendor in saris. A sari
transforms a girl into a beautiful woman.
I could sense that girls had spent long hours
in beauty parlours, the previous day. I couldn’t even recognize few of them.
There was a flushed embarrassment
when I wished someone “good morning mam” ,thinking she was our dept. lecturer.
But she was on her foot to reply “I like your sense of humour”.I almost nodded
and appreciated her derisive wit. There were girls who walked slothfully and kept balancing themselves. Even a
snail could beat them in a 100mts race. They took 60 photos in 60 varying angles
in 60 seconds. I pity the camera speed.
There was abounding happiness
everywhere.Photos were clicked categorized according to project group members, pals
for life,the nerds,the soup boys,sweet couples.
The time had come for which we were
waiting eagerly. The ec sec c batch photo was clicked. Everybody gave their
best smile as this photo would go into the college magazine. It is one of the best pictures that i will cherish throughout my life.
